Over the Spring Internship Semester, I had the pleasure of working with Ms. Ashley Kaplan ’17 and Ms. Madison Palmer ’17, who were both students at the top of their class. During their time with the Worcester District Attorney’s Internship Program, they were assigned to the Central District Court Unit (CDC) which is responsible for prosecuting all misdemeanor criminal matters in Worcester and surrounding towns. Ashley and Madison were given the opportunity to work hand in hand with prosecutors, assisting them in their case prep work, as well as accompanying the attorneys in the courtroom on a daily basis. Both Ashley and Madison exemplified what it is to be diligent and professional workers, and have very bright futures. Because of this positive experience, District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr. looks forward to taking more interns from Sutton High School in the future! - Kevin LeFrancois, Worcester DA
The Sutton High School Internship offered a great opportunity for a local student to work within our family business. We were eager to provide our intern, Matthew, with a variety of exposure such as administrative and factory duties. We at County Heat Treat looked at this chance to work with Sutton High School as an investment in our company. Exposing young minds and building excitement within those young minds is a win not only for the intern but our company as well! We hope to be able to participate in this wonderful program again! - Barbara Nartowt, County Heat Treat
I wanted to share with you the wonderful experience we had with Nick as an intern. He was a pleasure to have in our department and shadowing throughout the bank. He took his role very seriously and produced some exceptional work. We involved him in a number of important projects of which he completed perfectly. Nick actually designed and developed our employee survey for 2017. Although that was not on the original list for him, we were extremely confident in his abilities after a short time and thought he could take this on. He was exposed to some very confidential and serious matters under the human resources umbrella. I was impressed with his perspective and the intelligent questions he posed. He presented himself and the bank professionally and positively at the DCU Job Fair and St. John’s Food for the Poor (community service). I am confident that Nick will do well in college and excel in a business environment. I would not hesitate to provide a reference for Nick. His work ethic, initiative and professionalism is far beyond expectations.. -Maria Salvatore, SVP/Director of Human Resources Commerce Bank
As an undergraduate and graduate professor I was pleasantly surprised by our intern Caitlin's maturity, passion for learning and ambition to be proactive within our clinic. She took initiative, demonstrated utmost professionalism and sincere presence with our clients. This is a wonderful reflection of the support and thorough facilitation her educational institution and family have provided. She is undoubtedly going to be successful as she embarks on her future journey at Boston University. - Kayla Daly, Worcester Center for Expressive Therapies
As Alumni of Sutton High School, my brother and I were excited to hear about Sutton's Internship Program. In our business, we run across many young people who are unsure of their direction after high school, but are still forced to make important decisions with no experience. We were happy to have Cody here for 6 weeks to give him a little real world experience, and found him to be enthusiastic about learning. In the future, we look forward to working with SHS to grow the internship program. We are confident in Sutton's ability to raise students of exceptional character, and are happy to help in any way we can help them to reach their goals. -Mark & Mike Hare, Harbro Auto Sales & Service
I had a great experience with the Sutton memorial HS intern program. The young man who worked with us, Brandon Elster, was well prepared, focused and a pleasure to have. It’s clear to me that SMHS does a fantastic job of selecting and preparing interns, which ultimately leads to a future productive workforce. I would be happy to participate again. - Michael Zooleck, WB Mason
It was a pleasure working with Stephanie. She picked things up quick, realized she loved the field of Early Childhood Education and now has a fulltime job with us, and is pursuing her degree in the field! -Shaunna Baillargeon Director/Owner of Muddy Puddles Early Learning Program.
The Sutton High School Internship Program is a wonderful opportunity for our graduating high schoolers. I particularly enjoyed how this program challenged and pushed me throughout the six-week period. I never had my intern in class, so it was nice to get to know another student. My students really benefited from having someone in the room who understands what it means to be a child in 2017. They looked to my intern for support, clarification, a smile, and advice. This program truly benefits everyone! - Kyle Van DenBergh, Sutton Middle School Teacher
